Lana's Story: Studio Art Management Internship in Berlin

This is Lana!

Lana moved to Berlin to do an Artist Studio Management Internship with Wolfgang Stiller, an internationally renowned sculptor who is also working as a guest professor at New York University. He owns this gallery studio with the same name and works with various sculptures and installations. Lana did such a great job that her internship got extended for another 6 months!

Can you describe what your day-to-day looks like?

I start my day by waking up earlier so I can go to the staadtbibliothek (library) to focus and work on my drawings, or if I have other tasks to do. Then I leave for the Studio around 1 PM.

I would then start helping with the matchstick men sculptures, as well as helping Wolfgang construct the shipping crates for the pieces to be shipped to collectors and galleries. I love it because I get to bond and have very nice conversations while working.

What is your favorite part of your internship?

Thanks to my internship, I got to stay in Berlin and continue working for another 6 months for Wolfgang as an art studio assistant. I've always wanted to move to Germany, and now I have the opportunity to work here like I hoped!
