Jasper's Story: Production Internship in New York
This is Jasper!
With a background in Film, Cinema, and Video Studies from Evergreen State College, she aimed to apply her academic insights in the real world. Choosing to enhance her skills, she joined the ArtBound Initiative program. After finishing the curriculum, she successfully landed a production internship with Atlantic Pictures, an Emmy-nominated creative content studio, and video production company based in New York.
Describe what your overall internship was like at Atlantic Pictures!
At Atlantic Pictures my tasks as a production intern include research projects, prop sourcing, script coverage, and general office assistant duties. Some days I get to be on sets across the city, meeting new people and learning hands-on skills.
In our open-concept office space, the interns at Atlantic Pictures sit at a long table with one other. Here we have access to the phones and are easily communicated to by our fellow staff.
What is your favorite part of this experience?
Being on set felt like the richest environment to learn in but I'd say that assisting the production coordinator on a project was the most impactful activity during my internship. I learned all about making the important documents needed for production.
What did ABI help you with the most?
ArtBound Initiative helped me feel prepared for this leap in my career - I'm thankful for the people involved in my specific journey and also the care that was taken in placing me with Atlantic Pictures.
My internship at Atlantic Pictures has given my confidence, clarity, and has made me feel like a stronger candidate for future positions.
