Janalene's Story: Social Media Internship in Melbourne

Janalene is a graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in Creative Media with a concentration in design

and media from the University of Hawaii - West Oahu. She was looking to expose herself to the marketing field, hence why she joined ArtBound Initiative and secured an internship with CMMN Events in Melbourne! Read more below.

Could you describe what your day-to-day looks like as an intern for CMMN Events?

As a social media management intern, my daily routine includes customer service help, research, note-taking, brand auditing, and some social media content creation. Outside of the office I also got to help out for their expo, one of them is working at their Tattoo Festival.

The environment at CMMN is super casual. Everyone is friendly with one another, despite the business and hectic situation once we get closer to show dates.

What was your favorite part about your internship?

My favorite part would be just actually talking to people in the office and establishing that connection with them. I also really enjoyed the customer service portion because I like helping people. The highlight of my internship was definitely helping out with the expo, which was a very rewarding experience.

Did your internship meet your expectations and how will it impact your career goals?

Overall, I am satisfied with my internship experience! I wish that I had a bit more time to do the internship. I am really grateful for the people I got to work with at CMMN, and to be able to have insights into the work culture in Australia.

I liked knowing that I could contact anyone at ABI if ever I needed help with anything throughout my internship!
