David's Story: Account Management Internship in New York
This is David!
David is a graduate of The King's College, New York majoring in Media, Culture & Arts. During his studies, he decided to join the ArtBound Initiative program and landed an internship at Reflexgroup, a leading creative agency based in New York City.
Tell us more about your Account Management Internship at Reflexgroup!
I was placed at Reflex Group, a global 360 creative agency that specializes in working with beauty, fashion, and luxury brands.
I worked as an Account Manager Intern, supporting the creative work mostly at the business end of things. I did market research, formed pricing estimates, researched models, talents, and influencers.
However, as I showed initiative and capabilities during my internship, I was also entrusted with creative tasks and projects, such as copywriting and brainstorming creative and digital strategies.

How do you think this internship has impacted your career?
As someone interested in continuing to work in branding and advertising, I think this internship was a perfect launchpad for my career. Not only did I gain actual, tangible skills that I can now put to work anywhere I work, but I also gained a real understanding of the industry and formed genuine connections with people in it.

What did ArtBound Initiative help you with the most?
ArtBound Initiative helped me kickstart my career in so many ways. However, if I had to choose the most impactful, it would be that it taught me to position myself in the workplace and develop my character to set myself up for future success.
Through the program, I learned to be bold, curious, professional, and ready to take on new challenges with proactivity. Many practical skills fade and become irrelevant with time. But a character that is ready to grow handles work with professionalism and care, and knows how to value himself and others in the workplace is timeless. ArtBound Initiative helped me to embrace this attitude and looking back, this was one of the most significant things I gained from the program.
