Avalon's Story: Fashion Design Internship in New York

This is Avalon!

Avalon is a graduate of the Fashion Design program at Miami Fashion Institute. She also obtained her foundational studies at Istituto Marangoni. With previous experiences in fashion design, she was able to land an internship at Vmora, a Fashion consulting company in New York City. Avalon's goal is to help steer the luxury fashion industry towards more sustainable practices while maintaining high standards of elegance and quality. Read more below!

Could you describe what your day-to-day looks like as an intern for Vmora?

During my internship, I created 10-page tech packs with all the necessary information, emailed manufacturers and factories for clients, conducted quality checks on garments in the production process, worked in the city to drop off and pick up materials for projects, and attended fittings. I also created a swimsuit line and developed tech packs for it.

The environment at Vmora was laid-back and relaxed, as long as we met our deadlines. I was surrounded by strong, friendly people who constantly pushed to improve themselves each day.

What was your favorite part about your internship?

My favorite part of the internship was getting to work on tech packs and design a swimwear line! It taught me more about the industry than I expected, and I also gained valuable connections with factories and clients.

How would you describe the way ArtBound Initiative helped you the most?

ABI helped me learn how to effectively communicate with my coworkers and train my mind to respond to various issues and situations.
