Anya's Story: Marketing Internship in New York
This is Anya!
Anya graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Political Science and a minor in Communications from Arizona State University, Tempe, AZ! Anya decided to join the ArtBound Initiative program and landed a Marketing Internship at Harvestworks, a digital media arts center in New York City.
Could you describe what your day-to-day & the environment looks like as an intern for Harvestworks?
I start my day by heading into the office and checking my emails and messages across all social media platforms. First thing in the morning, I update all social media tasks, which involve editing photos and videos.
Depending on the day, I might be sent to various sites for in-person content collection. This involves filming, photographing, and interviewing artists and other interns to gather content for HarvestWork's website or social platforms. I write website articles on WordPress or MadMimi for the actual site. In addition to the technical tasks, I occasionally help with physical tasks such as moving items from site to site, organizing cords, cleaning, and locking up the office.
What was your favorite part about your internship?
One of the most rewarding aspects of my work is seeing HarvestWork's audience and engagement grow on their platforms as a direct result of my efforts!
Did your internship meet your expectations and how will it impact your career goals?
I went into it without any expectations, but overall, it turned out to be very enjoyable! The whole internship experience is greatly appreciated and will hopefully help me secure more significant positions in marketing or communications in the future!
How did ArtBound Initiative help you the most?
Throughout my time with ABI, I never felt alone or neglected. If there were any issues, I knew my emails would be answered promptly and efficiently!
